Our Furry Friends Skin Soother is a gentle, unscented balm with just 6 natural ingredients. Here are the ingredients and the traditional indications (1):

Beeswax: Serves as a lubricant and also a barrier to protect skin. For thousands of years it has been used in salves and balms for its antiseptic and healing qualities.

Organic Sunflower Oil: Is full of Vitamin E which is great for skin and is a "barrier" oil which is protective and soothing.

Frankincense: Traditionally used in the treatment of injury and skin conditions to reduce swelling, alleviate pain and promote healing.

Red Peony Root: Traditionally used to 'clear heat; and cool. Also used for swelling, pain and injury. Antibacterial: demonstrates an inhibitory effect on certain bacteria.

Dictamnus Root Bark: A bitter and cold herb used traditionally for extreme heat signs, 'damp-heat'. Used for sores, rashes and demonstrates an antifungal effect. The bitterness makes the product less appealing for licking.

Phellodendron Bark: Another bitter cold herb traditionally used for 'damp-heat' presentations. Drains heat from sores and lesions. Demonstrates antimicrobial and antifungal effect.

Our Furry Friend Skin Soother is Emily Skin Soother's first pet product. As our existing customers already know, our products were initially made for my own daughter Emily. She was born with sensitive skin and eczema. As an acupuncturist and herbalist, I used my training to help her. Our products were formulated to be simple, natural and effective for sensitive people like our Emily.

We never planned on creating products for animals, but our customers kept writing to tell us how they used their Emily products on their pets with incredible results. They used our balms and soaps on mystery rashes, hot spots, cracked snouts, rain rot (horses) and more. Of course, we were very happy to hear that we were also able to help our 4 legged friends.

After all the feedback we decided it would be silly and unreasonable to not do what we could to help animals too. We made some slight modifications to one of our existing products. Our Furry Friends Skin Soother is the result.

What People Are Saying About Emily Furry Friend Soother

Furry Friend Helps With Chafing, Scratches and Scrapes

“Our Greyhound, Zeppelin, has had a really rough go as far as his skin is concerned. As a result of being caged on a racing track and constantly rubbing against the cage, he came to us completely bald under his belly, chest, neck and back legs. He has to wear sweaters and jackets when it's cold outside, and they sometimes chafe his joints. We used "Emily for Pets" and I noticed he didn't seem as bothered by the rubbing as much. It prevented new rubbing, and if he licked it off, I had the piece of mind that it wasn't harmful to his system.

I've also used it on our Border Collie's feet. She constantly scratches and scrapes up her feet when she runs through the woods. A little "Emily" on her feet, and she seems to feel much better. Way better than the sting of Peroxide, and I feel better that it's not harmful if she licks it off. Plus, it's been great for my hands, too! ”

Veterinary Acupuncturist Uses Emily Furry Friend on Her Own Dog

“I tried the Emily's Skin Soother on my elderly dog's front limb. She had been experiencing inflammation and irritation from a ruptured sebaceous cyst. I was concerned it would turn into a hot spot. She did great! After two applications about 2 days apart, the wound was closed, less red and a non-issue for her. And,it hasn't returned. Thank you Mike and Emily's!”

Dry Cracked Nose Significantly Better with Furry Friend

“Before I started using Emily's Furry Friend, my dog Blue had a dry cracked nose. I was given an antibiotic ointment for him but of course it had a lot of chemicals and my wholistic vet didin't want Blue to be having it put on his nose, because naturally they lick at it. Mike gave me FF and I have been applying it three times a day. His nose is significantly better....it still has some small fissures but it is no longer bleeding and crusty. It is nice to be able to use a product that has no harmful chemicals and works to heal as well as moisturizes!”

Emily Helps A Doggie's Hotspots Too

“My Australian Shepard has a tendency to getting hot spots on her back/rear when she gets a little stressed. (ie. the site of a suit case) I've tried many creams & salves & they work.. when she doesn't lick them off. It's so difficult to get her to leave the spot alone so it will heal. I put some Emily's Skin Soother on it, and since she didn't like the smell she stopped licking it. Emily's worked great in 2 days she was completely healed. I didn't even have to cut the hair around it, so she doesn't have a bald spot for weeks. Last time it cost $100.00 at the vet for a 5 minute visit. Thank you, I would highly recommend Emily's to anyone. It's safe enough for a dog to ingest in case they do tend to lick a lot.”
